About Me

My Story

Welcome to my space! My name is Hafsah Bint Nurein aka Ummu Hurayrah. I’m a writer, editor and writing coach.  I also published my debut novel: To Err is Human in October 2019
My journey into writing started years ago, when I was still a kid. I absolutely loved reading (still do!) and would devour any book I could find: thriller,  adventure … all genres! As long as it was bound, had numerous pages and smelt like paper, gum and ink mixed with mildew, I would devour it.  Back then, my dad’s library then was my favourite place in the world.
In my spare time, I wrote lots of stories. These I kept close to my heart and never shared with anyone.

This status quo continued for years, although when in Uni, I became the PRO of the Muslim Students’ Society. While in my capacity as the PRO I wrote several articles for the society but still kept most of my writings private.
2016 was the year in which I decided to share my writing with the world. I don’t know what changed, but I woke up one morning and just decided to share my work. I hit the ground running since then and never looked back.

I published my first ever web-series; The Thorn in The Rose; up on my blog(www.talesbyhurayrah.wordpress.com) under the penname: Ummu Hurayrah. Since then I’ve gone on to publish several other webseries and short stories, did some freelance work with Writers’ Academy Australia.
As honing my writing and editing skills was of topmost priority to me, I’ve gone on to invest in several masterclasses, coaching and mentoring masterminds. Being a writer can be very lonely- (believe me I know!) and it’s not the best feeling in the world. In my time as a writer, I’ve encountered lots of women who’ve got the passion to tell their stories but are either too scared to try or  have no clue where to begin. This is why I made my goal to help passionate women harness their writing potentials and fulfill their dreams of becoming writers/authors.

So there you have it. A little somethin’ somethin’ about me and what I do. Feel free to browse the website, I’m sure you’ll find something that’s just right for you.

Feedback&Reviews

Here’s what some of my clients have to say.

“I’m pleased with Hafsah’s (UmmuHurayrah) coaching. She’s helped me refine what was ‘good writing’, and allowed me to explore my natural aptitude as a writer. She’s very detailed, misses nothing and gives valuable feedback. I’m convinced she’s got the craft and I’d work with her any day!

Working with Hafsah (Umm Hurayrah) on my book was such an amazing experience. She didn’t just work on it, she carried me through the whole process and turned all my ideas into a brightly coloured and well structured recipe book. I will definitely work with her on my next book and many more after that.
